Researched and developed methodology and procedures for a company-wide IT standardization project. Areas of concentration included, standardization of Windows XP workstation configuration, Linux-based installation system and bootable CD-ROM. Created Linux menu system for both installation options and restore options. Installed, configured and maintained two test lab environments that included two Novell Netware 6.5 servers running ZENWorks for Servers, ZENWorks for Desktops and GroupWise. Also installed four RedHat AS 2.1 Linux servers and used opensource solutions to clone them and make an archive of them for disaster recovery.

Maintained and performed trouble shooting for 650+ node, 38 server Corporate NOVELL and Windows 2000 Local Area Network, including 2 Citrix MetaFrame servers. Maintained and performed trouble shooting for 350+ node, 35 server Corporate NOVELL and Windows NT Local Area Network, including 2 Microsoft SQL servers, 2 Citrix Winframe servers, 2 SAA for Netware servers, 1 Novell GroupWise server and 1 Novell BorderManager server. Supervised the setup, installation, upgrade and implementation of servers at both corporate sites in Houston and Dallas. Originally, duties included supervising networks at 20 remote locations. Performed supervisory LAN Administration including: verification of backups, planning, selection and implementation of new server equipment, installation and upgrade of networked applications, and the installation and upgrade of network switching and backbone hardware. Duties also included the assignment and monitoring of projects, high-level trouble shooting, and project coordination with other departments, including IS personnel at other locations. During bankruptcy and liquidation proceedings, successfully separated the physical network by severing the WAN links from Dallas and Waco and performing appropriate NDS recovery. Also, handled the shutdown of all network systems during liquidation. Supervised up to five employees and numerous contractors directly on a daily basis.

Maintained and performed trouble shooting for 175 node , 9 server Corporate NOVELL Local Area Network. Set up, upgraded and performed trouble shooting for NOVELL LANs at 9 remote sites. Maintained and performed trouble shooting for WAN connecting remote sites and Corporate LAN. Performed LAN Administration including: adding and deleting users, performing regular backups and occasional restorations from tape using Palindrome Storage Manager and Seagate BackupExec, and maintaining LAN security. Maintained and managed corporate Microsoft Mail e-mail network, including an AT&T Internet e-mail gateway. Performed phone support for all remote sites and traveling corporate personnel. After reorganization, the Local Area Network was reduced to 85 nodes, 4 servers, and one WAN connection. Upgraded 3 of the 4 Novell servers from 3.x to 4.11. Setup 2 additional Novell 4.11 servers. The MIS staff was reduced to half of the original size, requiring more detailed management of the network and the upgrade of equipment. Supervised upgrade of Windows 3.1 workstations to Windows95. Installed and maintained Bay Networks AN Router on 56k channel of T1 for Internet connectivity. Upgraded to CISCO Router and full T1. Helped install and configure Gauntlet Firewall. Maintained Gauntlet Firewall. Reconfigured Bay Networks Router for 56k WAN connection.
